Many businesses have been operating remotely for months and may be considering a return to “normal”.

In the mad dash to set up remote work environments, the potential to overlook or set aside certain practices and protocols may have you’re your business exposed to security and privacy threats. There are three main areas of technology to focus on when it comes to ensuring your return-to-work plan goes off without a hitch:

  1. Gap analysis – what hardware or software has been a pain point during lockdown? What might need upgrading or replacing?
  2. Updates – have all user devices, apps and other software been updating while working remotely? It’s time to check.
  3. Device management – are you tracking your work devices? If not, you need to know where those devices are. You also need to know who is using personal devices to access work data – and decide whether that’s the best way to operate. Overall, it’s a good time to check your “data hygiene”

Everyone’s situation is unique but evaluating your plan with these components in mind can help you get organized and anticipate obstacles.
